The show yesterday, on TV,
In the rain and gloom, our queen.

You may have waved a flag
Whilst giggling at their soggy misery,
And thought:
Hooray for being British,
For taking chances on the weather.
Excuses to be festive,
To share time and tea together.
Reasons to get to know your neighbours
Share cake on the lawn
Break out from grey routine
A little change from the norm.
It's true that times are less than golden
That this is not a diamond age.
So let a little song and dance
Take centre stage.
And share what we have
Break from the chains of reason and sensibility.
Take an extra day or two's freedom
To revel in this jubilee.
